Opportunities to create!

The Old Craft Store enjoys giving you opportunities to create!

One opportunity is in a group of 18 coordinating fabrics that we select every month. We originally called it "Fat Quarter Bundle of the Month." The idea has evolved slightly since we started.  We realize that we can just as easily cut a Fat Eighth bundle or half yard bundle. We got positive response, our customers are taking advantage of ordering whatever size works for them!
Therefore, we are changing the name to "Stash Builder Bundle of the Month!"

There are just a few more days to order your September Stash Builder Bundle. September 20 is the deadline.
You can order your September Stash Builder from our website or call The Old Craft Store (972) 242-9111.

September Stash Builder Bundle

Naomi was so taken with the September Stash Builder. It was actually the inspiration for The Old Craft Store's very first blog post.

In the meantime, Jungle Paradise fabrics designed by Stacy Iest Hsu for Moda was delivered to the store. We posted a Just In! video on our Facebook profile.

The bright happy colors had to be made up into a quilt! The Quilt top was sent off to one of our long-arm quilters before I could get a photo, but it will be on display in the store soon!

Then, Lavender Fields from Benartex arrived! Again, here's our Lavender Fields Just In video on our Facebook page.  Look at these lovely purples!!

This happened as Fat Quarter bundles of the Lavender Fields were being cut...
I don't know how this picture looks on your screen. In person these colors are brilliant. crisp. radiant!
Again, a quilt had to - HAD TO - be made! And this 9-patch photo was the perfect inspiration.

This is a basic 9-patch block. Red Pepper Quilts has a great tutorial. Use the web address in the photo above, then search "nine patch" in Red Pepper Quilts webpage.

Using left over fabrics from the Rainbow Lightning quilt, the Jungle Baby Goose quilt, and a Lavender Fields FQ bundle, with pieces from my stash at home...

This is very much a scrappy quilt!

The 9 patches soon out grew the small design wall...

Turning the blocks on point was a game changer!

The two basic 9-patches.
Dark (photo on the left) and Light (photo on the right).

I alternated the Darks and Lights.
One row across the top (left to right) darks
the next row lights.
There was a lot of auditioning of what went well together. And a lot of rearranging for the best all over effect.

I even auditioned a check look with a solid purple.
In my opinion, that toned down the scrappiness, and I decided it wasn't what I wanted with this quilt.

Back to only 9-patches. Just a few more Light blocks then the setting triangles.

I'm doing my best to get this quilt top into the store before the September Stash Builder deadline.
I figure that at least by blogging about it might inspire you to make something up with one of the bundles or even all of them like I did!
