One of our services at The Old Craft Store is making T-shirt quilts.
We have a go-to t-shirt pattern from Angela Walters, The Midnight Quilter, that we have permission to use. With 15 of your t-shirts and your choice of coordinating colors, you can have this quilt!
(I found one of Angela Walters "T-shirt Quilt" videos. But I don't know if her pattern is still available for free. If anyone knows where to find it, please tell me in the comments and I'll add it here.) So, we understand this pattern may not appeal to everyone. Simply, bring us your idea for your t-shirt quilt. For example, you may want more than 15 t-shirts, or maybe less. We will do our best to execute your vision. Our website T-shirt quilt link gives a base price, custom and larger quilts may have additional costs. Unfortunately, I don't have any photos of t-shirt quilts we've made recently, I will share when we work on another! (I do want to make note that The Old Craft Store does not post pictures of quilts unless we have been given permission to share on social medias.)
We also make memory quilts from clothing items - baby clothes, Dad's/Grandpa's shirts, Mom's/Grandma's dresses, etc. Bring us your vision, what you would like your quilt to look like. We will do all we can to make it happen! Apologies, no photos here either.
If you have a need at any stage of your quilt, we will do our best to help you. We have even finished quilt tops that were started and for whatever reason packed away into a box and sat at the bottom of a closet for years. One of them was mostly made, we pieced the last two blocks and added the final row before sending the quilt to be quilted. It turned out beautifully! And again, I don't have pictures. However, I am learning, and will have them ready in the future!

Once in a while a customer comes in with special requests. We do our best to provide quilting services. This quilt top was hand-pieced by our customer's loved one. Because of the sentiment of the work done, the customer wanted to continue the stitching by hand quilting it. However, she didn't want to do the part of preparing the quilt sandwich for quilting. So The Old Craft Store was happy to do the basting - pin basting, in this case, as requested by the customer.
Basting started with the backing. Three tables were placed together to give enough room.
By the way, if you ever need a space to baste a quilt, schedule a sew day at The Old Craft Store. Sew Days are a $5 fee and you are welcome to work any time during store hours!
Then the batting was spread out next.
Then the quilt top.
I don't know the full story on this quilt top. But it has a lot to tell. The stitches were small and even. I'm guessing the stitcher was an accomplished quilter.
We found evidence that the blocks had been paper foundation pieced. There were tiny bits of aged paper still in the seams.
The blocks are fairly even. And yet, some evidence of "creative" piecing to make some of the blocks fit. I think tearing the foundation papers off may have stretched some edges.
The wavy border adds to the story of the quilt. Leaving everything pieced as is really does help tell the story. The quilter will have to do some "creative" stitching as well to get everything flat (if that's what she wants.)
However it's stitched together, The Old Craft Store wishes many fond memories and happy stitching. Quilts like these are treasures! And we are happy to help you with your quilting needs!
